about cassandra index

a quiet front room on old hill lane, spreadsheets open, kettle on.

Cassandra Index is a small technical SEO consultancy in Port Washington, New York. We read websites closely, write down what we find in plain English, and hand your developers a list they can start on Monday. The rest of this page is who we are and how we like to be of use.

why the name

cassandra was right, and nobody listened

In the myth, Cassandra saw trouble coming and could not make anyone act on it. Most SEO reports fail in the same way: the problem is correctly named on page 41 of a deck, and then it sits in a folder.

So we built the practice around the handoff. Every finding names the URL pattern, why it matters, the exact change to make, and how to check it worked. A developer should be able to turn a finding into a ticket without a meeting.

We keep the practice small on purpose. One engagement at a time means the person who reads your crawl logs is the person who answers your email in week three. We bill a fixed fee by invoice, and you see the figure before anything begins.

We’ll tell you in writing, within one working day, whether we’re the right fit.

how we look after you

four habits, kept every engagement

answer first, ask second

We do the homework before the first call, so your hour with us goes on your story, not on explaining your own site map to a stranger.

write for the person who’ll fix it

Findings are ordered by effort against payoff, with the change spelled out. Your developer gets a ticket, not a sermon.

say the fee out loud

The price is fixed and written down before work starts. If your scope shifts, we tell you before the invoice does.

promise only what we control

We can’t promise rankings and won’t. We promise a document you can act on, a walk-through where every question is welcome, and a month of follow-up.

what we’re doing, and what you’ll hear

A typical technical audit, from the day access arrives. You are never left wondering where things stand.

days 1–2Search Console, analytics and log exports read through; a full crawl queued.A short note confirming access works and naming any gaps.
days 3–7Crawl, index, render and log-file review. Quiet, thorough, unhurried.Only a question if we truly need your knowledge of the site.
days 8–13Findings drafted, ordered by effort against payoff, each with a way to verify.A heads-up on the biggest finding, before the document lands.
day 14Walk-through call with whoever will do the work, document open. The finished audit, then thirty days of follow-up by email.

catalogues and help centres with a lot of URLs

E-commerce stores with faceted navigation and variant sprawl, and SaaS teams with docs, programmatic pages and a pricing page that keeps losing to your own blog. Penalty notices, botched relaunches and plateaus are our regular weather.

If your site is small and sound, a technical audit is more than you need and we’ll say so. If you’re after a guaranteed position on page one, we’re not your people. We’ll happily point you to someone better suited.
